My name is Spud Murphy.

Yep..........that's me!

I am the inspirational founder...president...CEO...visionary force...and all-around big cheese of the ...soon to be world famous... Spud Records and   Spud Tones Music Publishing.

Before we get to Vikki's music, I must address an extremely serious issue! Some vicious person or persons unknown has started a very ugly rumor to the effect that the only reason I started Spud Records was because...gasp...I am sleeping with Ms. Vikki Lee!

Well...the truth of the matter is...

YES...I...AM...sleeping with Vikki Lee...every night as a matter of fact...and I have been for a very long time!

However...the motley group of individuals that you see over there on the right, is also sharing the bed with us every night....so there is never any hanky panky going on.

And besides, Vikki and I have been secretly married for a number of years....and as most of you know....after a few years of marriage...and some kids...hanky panky is the last thing on your mind when you climb into bed.

So.... in order to completely clarify things..... let me categorically state that my primary reason for starting   Spud Records   was to give the beguiling Ms. Vikki Lee..... (or "Gluehead," as I affectionately call her)... the opportunity to showcase her amazingly varied talents as a songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, arranger, and producer on our label's initial release, Vikki's debut solo CD....... "SOLILOQUY".

"SOLILOQUY"

I firmly believed that this fine collection of distinctive, modern pop songs featurng literate, emotionally charged lyrics, unusual melodic hooks, unique poly-rhythms, and sweet vocal harmonies was a sure fire winner !

I was equally certain that  "SOLILOQUY" would attract a wide, diverse audience of music fans...that we would sell a ton of CDs...and that I would make an absolute carload of money !!

Unfortunately it hasn't worked out that way...yet !

That is because, in addition to being very talented....Ms. Vikki can sometimes be an extreme mulehead !

All of you surely know that the most important thing to Vikki Lee, (probably even more important than me)...is performing with her live band...Sticky Vikki and the Pinecones.

But while she assembles her band, and leads her band, and even books all the gigs for her band,  she does not want to be the star of her band.....the center of attention. She believes that each and every player is just as important to the band's success as every other player....including herself. Consequently, Vikki will not accept being anything more than just another member of the band..."one amongst equals" !

And herein lies the problem.

While Vikki worked extremely hard writing and producing "SOLILOQUY"..... and she is very proud of her work..... she refuses to play these songs "live" with her band.

That's because she feels that "SOLILOQUY" is essentially a singer/ songwriter project....and that while all of the tunes are excellent, they are intrinsically too introspective, idiosyncratic and "girly-girly" to be played by the hard rockin' Sticky Vikki and the Pinecones at their gigs....... and also that playing these songs would mean that way too much of the spotlight would be shining on her alone, and not on the rest of her band.

Needless to say...it is awfully difficult to promote a CD...no matter how great it happens to be....when your artist will not play any of the songs at the "live" shows!

So...the only solution to this dilemma was to have Vikki write some great songs that she can play and will play with her band......and this is exactly what she has done !!!

Inspired to return to some of her early musical influences such as Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, The Byrds, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and many other outstanding country and alternative country artists...Vikki Lee proceded to systematically re-vamp Sticky Vikki and the Pinecones.

First she assembled just the right combination of talented, experienced, like-minded musicians, and then she carefully molded them into a completely original, electrifying, and positively killer country-rock band!

Finally....Ms. Sticky Vikki went about the task of producing a whole batch of terrific new songs that perfectly complement her band's exciting new line-up!!!

And voila........

The result is Spud Record's second CD release...... "PASTURE BEDTIME".
